Queensland ILCA State Championships 13 – 14 July 24

Competitors from all over QLD and some from interstate made up the 44 boat fleet across 3 divisions.

A day of spray on the Bay, The 13-15kts WSW winds and the short chop synonymous with Waterloo Bay, made it quite spectacular to watch, and difficult to see where they were going.

Mark rounding’s were a thrill to watch as the laser fleets planed their way into the downwind legs at speed.

The cold South Westerlies greeted the competitors for the final day of the regatta. Good conditions in the bay for the competitors on the Southern course with the final 3 racesclosely fought. The top mark proved to be the deciding point where the rules ruled and positions were gained, or lost.

Queensland ILCA Association State Championships Awards Presentation was very casual and relaxed event on the Sailing office lawn. Competitors and supporters jostled for position in the sun, especially after a big day on the bay.
