Itinerary:
Saturday 5 October
10:00 Cruise to Canaipa at your leisure. Find an anchorage and enjoy lunch aboard or motor over to the Longhouse for lunch and a swim.
14:30 Gather at the Longhouse ready for bus transfer to the Russell Island Bowls Club. The club will supply bowls and coaching for the event.
Bowls comp to start at 15:45 after a presentation on the rules on the rink and complete around 17.15. Teams of 4 drawn from the hat at 15.30.
All welcome even if you are not cruising, you can meet us at the Bowls club from the ferry or meet the group at the boat ramp for Saturday activities. Just let Mark know if you are taking this option.
18:00 Dinner at the bowls club at own cost followed by presentations to the winners.
19:30 Bus transfer back to Canaipa, Drinks and tall stories about the bowling prowess of our crew. BYO.
Sunday 6th October
10:00 Breakfast at your leisure then cruise around to the channel in front of the MacLeay Island ferry terminal. Find a suitable anchorage and prepare for the afternoon’s activities.
11:15 Motor to the boat ramp next to the ferry terminal and first courtesy bus will pick us up at 11:30 for delivery to the MacLeay Island bowls club for lunch (great views). The second bus will pick up at 12:00. Courtesy bus transfers back to the boat ramp at 13.30 and 14.00 (flexible). Travel back to the boats for a nap or walk up to the hotel (or persuade the driver to drop you off there) for afternoon live music or a punt at the TAB on site.
16:00 Motor over to the boat ramp and tie up the dinghy’s there. Walk up to the hotel (200m) and get a table for sundowners. Order dinner from the menu to be followed by the NRL grand final at 18.30 on the TVs in the hotel. There will be a sweep run by the cruise captain on the first try scorer (with second and third prizes) for the NRL grand final game, and a cash prize for picking the final score, bring some cash along for your tickets if you’re interested. For those who are not interested in the footy, I’m sure there will be one or more of the boats where people will congregate for fun and frivolity after dinner.
20.30 A slow walk back to the dinghy’s (the hotel will close after the game) and return to the boats and party on for those so inclined.
Monday 7th October

Skippers of participating cruising vessels need to be aware that participation in the RQYS Cruising group events is always at the discretion of the skipper. If at any time there is potential for dangerous circumstances to arise, the responsibility for taking part in, or continuing to participate in Cruising Group events, remains solely with you as the skipper. You, as skipper, must exercise appropriate seamanship and discretion as to whether you should participate in, or continue with any cruise.

GENERAL RADIO PROCEDURES
Multiple VHF Channels are used within Moreton Bay.
These include …
VHF 67 is a General Public Calling Channel and should be generally monitored.
VHF 73 is used by Manly Radio/Coast Guard/VMR as a calling and working frequency.
VHF 77 is used by RQYS Cruising Vessels and, whilst participating in a cruise, you should maintain a listening watch and all calling and chatting should be done on this channel (or another channel if requested by the specific event organiser).
PLEASE NOTE it is imperative to state the Channel you are calling from and going to – to avoid confusion caused at busy time and especially since many skippers use scanning radios.
In the event of an emergency participants should all revert to Channel 77 and maintain a listening watch unless the cruise captain instructs another Channel is to be used (see above instructions)
As a back-up, it would be helpful if participants would also carry their mobile telephones and have them charged up and switched on at all times.
